A Cracking 3lb Loch Stack Brown Trout |
For the first time Scourie Hotel ran a full April Fishing Package (last year F&M curtailed our attempts at an April package). So with one eye on the weather and with fingers and toes crossed we awaited developments. We need not have worried, against the odds we had three weeks of very sunny and dry weather, too much sun in fact. However, it warmed the lochs up and the fishers enjoyed some reasonable fishing. Everyone realised that the smaller lochs were going to fish well but the larger lochs were still too cold, so with everyone concentrating on these 208 fish were caught, the best being 2lb to the Critchley party off Lower Duart. The Arkle party from Newcastle soon came to terms with the conditions and took some nice bags during their week including 47 from Lower Duart and 17 from Hush Lochs. Their best fish were 1lb 12oz and 1lb 7oz from Simpsons. Three seatrout were caught and returned from Lower Duart and Loch na Thull. Overall it turned out to be a successful month with the fish caught in fine condition, good colour and deep in the belly. Tight lines Patrick
