The 1lb 4oz Artic Char From Loch na Thull

April was very dry and unseasonably hot, very little water about in the rivers and burns and not much wind on the whole. A good number of fisher folk arrived during April and surprisingly the month produced a good return.

The highlights were on the 21st - Mr. S. Crooks caught a brown trout 20 and a half inches long in excellent condition it was returned without weighing but was estimated at 3lb 8oz to 4lb. The fish came off McKays beat.

Mr. Johnson, not to be outdone, caught a fish weighing 3lb 12oz on the following day on a neighbouring beat Fregairt, this was also returned. Both fish were witnessed.

The month produced 551 brown trout and 3 seatrout/finnock, the seatrout were all returned, as were most of the brown trout.

As I write this in early May the rain is lashing down and the wind is gale force. Oh well, we needed the rain! Hope it remembers to stop!
