I have a strong feeling that this August will be declared
the wettest August since records began. We seem to have been rained on
nearly every day. The weather might have been testing but it did mean that
there was plenty of water about and salmon were running and when we could
get boats out the diligent fishers were rewarded.
Our brown trout recorded during the month numbered 549. Seatrout caught and returned numbered 61 the best being:- 1 @ 2lb 8oz to Paul Kirby 1 @ 2lb 8oz to John Montgomery The salmon numbers were good with 19 grassed during the month:- 1 @ 4lb 8oz to Glen Wilson 1 @ 5lb and 1 @ 3lb 8oz to Alan Maden 1 @ 11 lb to Paul Kirby 1 @ 8lb 8oz to Peter Bartholomew 1 @ 5lb to Keith Dunbar 1 @ 7lb to Peter Horsborough 1 @ 6lb 10oz; 1 @ 3lb 10oz: 1 @ 7lb; 1 @ 9lb & 1 @ 10lb to Roy Robinson 1 @ 5lb to Hector Mclennan 1 @ 3lb 12oz toW.S.A.C. 1 @ 6lb 8 oz to W.S.A.C. 1 @ 6lb to Roy Clarke 1 @ 5lb to Sean Muscroft 1 @ 4lb to Harry Thorpe 1 @ 5lb to Colin Christie All hen salmon were returned and some of the cock fish.
