"Sadly we come to the time of year for the end of season report.  The fishing has been mixed, a bit like the weather.
 
First of all it is my pleasure to send a bottle of malt to the winner of the "Ian Hay Challenge Cup" for the largest brown trout caught on Hotel waters by a guest, who was Sandy Taylor, with a beautiful fish of 4lb 8oz - well fished Sandy and a bottle of malt will be in the post. 
 
The Mac Stevenson cup for the biggest salmon caught on Loch Stack by a hotel guest goes to Albert McInnes with a splendid salmon of 18lb (which was returned) a bottle of malt is being sent to Albert with our congratulations.
 
Now on to the more mundane task of jotting down the end of year figures.
 
7899 brown trout were logged during the season which was nearly 800 up on 2007.
 
153 seatrout were logged which was down on 2007 -  best seatrout to Paul Kirby @ 3Lb 8oz.
 
44 salmon were logged which again was down on 2007.
 
The low numbers of salmon and seatrout were I believe due to the lack of water during the important months of June, July and August.
 
Finally 15 char were caught.
