We enjoyed an
excellent season for Brown Trout and Sea Trout this year both in quantity
and quality, Salmon unfortunately did not do so well. Again lack of water at
the crucial times did not help, and although the sea trout were prepared to
run on very low water the salmon were a bit wimpish.
First of it is my great pleasure to award the Ian Hay Challenge Cup for the
largest Brown Trout caught on Hotel Waters,(excluding Stack,More and
Caladail,) to John Gregory for a beauty of 4lb 6oz. A bottle of malt will be
in the post ( if Royal Mail is working!!)
The best Salmon from Loch Stack was caught by Steve Wellard, well fished
Steve. and the Ghillies Trophy is awarded to him with again a bottle of
malt.
Finally its great to announce that 2009 was the best year ever for Brown
Trout and Seatrout.
10379 Brown Trout were booked with some very good fish among them.
468 Seatrout/Finnock were recorded including one of 27" and one of 4lb 8oz.
A great result, lets hope 2010 can at least equal it if not beat it.
Salmon grassed amounted to 41 over 85% of these were released.
Last but not least 16 char were recorded, one up on last year.
As most of our regular guests will know by now, we sadly lost our Springer,
Molly at the end of the season. In her memory we have decided to award an
additional annual trophy. We do not what for yet so any helpful suggestions
would be welcome.( only suggestions that we could use before the 9 o'clock
watershed please).
Once again thank you all for your support during the year, and a special
thanks to all the Boardmasters, without whose help and enthusiasm it would
be very difficult to administer the fishing's.
Best wishes and tight lines
Patrick and Judy
