A Typical May Brown Trout
Two Trout From Loch Stack |
What a dry month, with only 17mm of rain for the month in
Scourie or for the benefit of the pre decimal folks amongst us .5 of an
inch, barely enough to make you put on a raincoat. For us on the west coast
we have had to resort to watering flower pots and tubs, pretty much unheard
of and watering cans were in much demand.
Fishing however, once the wind got out of the east and north, has been good with some excellent bags: 1450 Brown Trout were booked with some of the best as follows; 4lb 8oz to Sandy Taylor 2lb12oz and 3lb3oz also to Sandy Taylor (this is sounding like the Sandy Taylor show) 2lb 12oz to Hamish McDonald These 4 fish were part of an excellent weeks bag to the Baird party. 2lb 10oz and 2lb 5oz to the hardy perennial Colin Munro. 2lb 11oz to Athol Donaldson and many others too numerous to mention between 1.5 and 2.5lb. Not surprisingly only 8 Seatrout/finnock were booked and of course no Salmon, although 1 Char was taken. A nice drop or two of rain would really get things going now. Tight lines Patrick
