There is far more to Sutherland than
its Game Fishing alone. Easily accessible from Scourie Hotel is Handa Island, an
ornithological delight. Boats sail several times a day (in summer) from Tarbet to both
circumvent and land on the island (if the weather permits !). It is owned and managed by
the Scottish Wildlife Trust and is a very important bird reserve providing sanctuary and
breeding colonies for many species. The area is also a mecca for Geologists and sightseers and has a waterfall four times higher than Niagara. Walkers will find gentle walks for the the younger or less energetic as well as more strenuous hikes for the more adventurous. For many, the magnificent scenery and chance to walk in the deserted , rugged landscape is too much to resist which sees them returning year after year. In addition to the above, Scourie Hotel can now offer holiday activity courses for adults, families and young people in conjunction with Cape Adventure Iinternational. We believe that they offer a first class, exciting and original choice of activities coupled with the comfort, warmth and style of a traditional Highland Hotel. Details of the courses are as follows : CAPE HOLIDAY COURSES (June - September) The courses are 6 days long, start on Sunday mornings and finish on Friday evenings. Minimum number of participants, 8 people per course. There is no upper age limit. Cape Hill walking For Men and Women who wish to enjoy the freedom and space that the hills of North West Sutherland can offer. Corbett’s and Munro’s, coastal routes and the bits in between. There will be different levels of walks each day to suit people’s capabilities. Cape Nature Venture Explore and discover our remote hills and sea lochs, walking and sea kayaking through this dramatic and ancient land enjoying the flora and fauna that surrounds us. Cape Family Week A family Activity Holiday. Share in the excitement of the activities and the wonders of our environment. Sea Kayaking, Climbing, Land Yachting, Hill Walking etc. Cape Activity Week For Men and Women with a spirit of adventure. Walking, Climbing, Abseiling, Orienteering, Sea Kayaking and Land Yachting in the most unspoilt and beautiful area left in Europe. Cape Art Ishbel Macdonald BA, a local artist, will share and enlighten you with her artwork. Art tuition can be arranged to fit in with any Cape holiday course at a cost of £45 per person per day.
