Overall a good season but with difficult weather conditions - very little rain and very warm winds.

Despite this the catch returns were excellent with 3853 Brown Trout entered in the Fishing Book.

Best Brown Trout and this years winner of the "Ian Hay Challenge Cup" was David Ardrey with an excellent wild brown trout of 4lb, it succumbed to a Black Pennel on the 16th May and was caught on one of the Dour Beat Lochs.

The best bag of the season was 80+ brown trout to Philip Leith off Stalkers on the 29th September; 7 of these were kept.

Sea Trout/Finnock were more numerous this year with a total of 399 recorded the best being 5lb 4oz off the River Polla to Richard Sturgeon, (this river seems to be improving each year).

All Seatrout/Finnock caught on Loch Stack, Loch More and Hotel Lochs were returned.

Salmon, due to very little water for most of the season, catches were not as good as we first expected, however 34 were caught the best and winner of the Ghillies Trophy this year was a cock fish of 13lb 10oz caught by Don Montgomery off Loch Stack.

Finally 7 char were caught from Loch Stack.

Bottles of malt will be winging their way to the two trophy winners for 2002 with our congratulations.

Regards,

Patrick
